Our Values

We are committed to cultivating a thriving ecosystem of generosity for artists, advocating for them, and meeting their needs to the best of our abilities as they arise. From this dedication, six core tenets have emerged as foundational principles for our creative community.

The Table Tenets

  1. We can simply be (at rest) at The Table

  2. We can hide beneath The Table

  3. There is enough food on The Table

  4. There is enough room at The Table

  5. Nothing is off The Table

  6. We can dance on The Table

Why a Table?

The image of a Table as a space of connection has been used for millennia.

The imagery of a table has been woven into ancient traditions portrayed in art and literature, where communal meals symbolize connection and abundance. At The Table Art Society, we embrace this imagery as a representation of generosity and openness, inviting everyone to gather and share in a communal artistic experience. All artists of all disciplines are welcome—there are no barriers, no judgments, just a space for connection and creativity.

The concept of the Table also evokes the ancient Christian image of the marriage supper of the Lamb, where Christ serves as the host and we, as His children, receive His boundless gifts. He provides all that we need, enabling us to embrace both generosity and the joy of receiving without shame.*

In this space, we are reminded that we are not just beneficiaries but also participants in a cycle of giving. Here, we learn that true generosity flows from a heart that recognizes its own blessings, fostering an environment where everyone can thrive together.

*A word about spiritual themes

Spirituality is a recurring topic of discussion at The Table, as we believe it is directly related to our personhood and artistic development amongst ourselves and others. Our leadership comprises of artists from diverse faith backgrounds, and we are committed to creating a safe space for open dialogue and exploration of various spiritual themes, perspectives, and practices within the context of artistic endeavors. We welcome and celebrate individuals from all backgrounds and beliefs to engage in respectful and supportive conversations that enrich our understanding of art, ourselves, how we relate to one another, and the human experience.
